The Beaches of Tirant & Cavalleria
Playas de Fornells is situated on the North Coast of the island. It is the most rugged and beautiful part of the island and noted for its wild flowers in spring and the many birds of prey. The two nearest beaches are Tirant and Cavalleria both having a wide expanse of golden sand.
Tirant
Tirant is the nearest and is in two sections. The small beach is accessible from the complex whilst the main beach is accessed by a short walk over the rocks around a small rocky headland. You can also reach the far end of the beach by car which is a 10-15 minute drive via the Cavalleria Road and a rough but wide unmade road. During the season there is a beach bar open but no other facilities.
Cavalleria
The superb beach at Cavalleria is on the road to the lighthouse and is situated on the left. There is a car park and the beach is accessed by a short walk and some recently built wooden steps. This like Tirant is usually a quiet beach and there are no facilities.
On the way to Cap Cavalleria drop into the museum and bar/café which is on the right. You can sit under the trees and enjoy the fabulous view to Sanitja (an old Roman harbour) and Cap Cavalleria.
